What to do

Why visit Procida walking?

Procida Camp & Resort is located exactly in the centre of the island: from here it is very convenient to explore both sides of Procida in a very short time and without too much effort! Walking around will give you the opportunity to discover the small shops, the artisans, the colourful alleys and stumble upon the particular panoramic views that would be impossible to see by car or bike!

The best itineraries to visit Procida on foot

1. Port of Procida

Starting from our resort and going up via IV Novembre, you will immediately find yourself in front of the most breath-taking view of the island, named after Elsa Morante. From here, continuing towards Via Pizzaco you will find a small glimpse of the sea and the descent that leads to the Chiaia beach. Moving towards the port, you will find many shops and small shops to accompany your journey, up to the so-called “Canalone” in Via Vittorio Emanuele. It is a pedestrian street, which will welcome you with the scents of the oldest bakery in Procida, the “Antica Pasticceria Cascone”, where we recommend a stop to taste a language of Procida!

The visit can only end at the port, where you will find the small Nutrimenti bookshop, which is also an independent publishing house, some art galleries and many typical products, obviously with a wonderful sea view.

Distance from the Resort: about 2,2 km. Time: 25 minutes. Difference in height: none; to reach the Chiaia beach it is necessary to go down a staircase of about 180 steps.

2. Corricella

Our resort is located a few minutes from the most beautiful and characteristic port of the island, the port of Corricella. A fascinating and scenographic place that houses the most authentic roots of the island. Upon exiting our blue door, turn right and go straight ahead and you will be there in no time! It is unmissable to go there for an aperitif or for dinner, but we recommend that you also go there in the morning, when the fishermen are getting ready to go fishing and the island is still sleepy and silent: you will feel like you have been brought back in time!

Distance from the Resort: about 1.5 km Time: 20 minutes Difference in height: none, but the port can only be reached by going down one of the 4 access stairways.

3. Chiaiolella

Directly from our magical blue door you can also go to the other port of Procida or that of Chiailella. Going down from the mainstreet you will find yourself on the island’s seafront, full of typical restaurants and seaside beaches. If you like a quick take-away lunch there is “Il Casotto” where you can get something to eat on the beach. The small scenic harbour will be your backdrop and, if you continue the walk, you can reach the long bridge that connects Procida to the islet of Vivara. We assure you that, especially at sunset, it’s worth it!

Distance from the Resort: about 1.5 km Journey time: 15 minutes; 25 minutes to the Vivara bridge Difference in height: none.

4. Terra Murata

If you feel well trained, we suggest you walk to the ancient village of Terra Murata. It will be challenging, but the panorama that awaits you will compensate for any effort! To reach the promontory, positioned overlooking the sea, you will have to go up from the eastern part of the island via the Gradoni della Lingua, passing through the characteristic Casale Vascello. After passing Piazza dei Martiri, the road continues to climb towards the Castle and you can admire a postcard view of the port of Corricella. You have arrived in the heart of the first inhabited nucleus of the island, surrounded by a wall that served as protection against Saracen raids. Here you can visit the Abbey of San Michele and the Palazzo d’Avalos, a former prison of sixteenth-century origins.

Distance from the Resort: about 2 km. Journey time: 30 minutes. Difference in altitude: 90mt.

The Procida Camp & Resort staff is always available to advise you on the easiest and most pleasant routes that will allow you to slowly discover the splendid island of Procida!
